Top 10 Most Striking Landscapes

by Robin Esrock

Striking. Defined in the Merriam Webster Dictionary as:  attracting attention or notice through unusual or conspicuous qualities. Also, a place of beauty,  noticeable.  There’s no shortage of striking landscapes on our planet, and I’m sure you can come up with plenty on your own (click here to upload your photos).  Here are a few that lodged in my memory (and my memory card) among my travels.

Taiwan - Yehliu Geopark

Located on Taiwan's scenic north coast, Yehliu's phallic mushroom-meatball structures have been shaped by erosion, water, and strong winds. Some of the formations have been given names according to the shapes they most resemble (the most famous being the Queen’s Head). Some just look like pimples on the pasty face of a teenage earth. Certainly unusual, and certainly conspicuous. (credit: Robin Esrock)
